Plastic bearings from Hartford Technologies provide a drop-in
replacement for many bronze, steel and stainless steel bearings –
and with significant advantages for both the designer and the user.
Plastic bearings are lighter in weight, non-magnetic, and have a low
coefficient of friction. Lower cage friction equates to reduced heat
generation. Plastic bearings often allow more flexible designs. And, they
are highly resistant to dust, dirt, chemicals and corrosives. Hartford
plastic bearings are engineered to run permanently free of lubrication,
and, because they are highly resilient, their long service life is virtually
maintenance-free.
Hartford plastic bearings are usable on many types of shafts, and offer better
vibration dampening than other alternatives. They also operate quieter.
Hartford engineers and manufactures standard plastic bearings
and bearing assemblies, in a wide range of dimensions. Modifications to
standard bore or OD, or special features such as thin sections, can be
engineered and prototyped quickly, thanks to Hartford’s advanced
modeling software and prototype program.
We also manufacture fully custom plastic bearings, including
custom cages with very close tolerances.
Hartford Technologies uses polyoxymethylene / Acetal / Delrin (POM),
a semi-crystalline engineered polymer combining high strength with
superior impact and fatigue resistance, for many of its plastic bearings
programs. Depending on the application, we also manufacture using:

- PA (polyamide / nylon)
- PTFE polytetrafluoroethylene / Teflon

“plastic-coated” and those that are manufactured from molded engineered
polymer. Hartford uses only high-integrity, solid polymer material for its
